The short version. Your scripts live on your Mac. Your voice is transcribed live to drive the scroll, then discarded — it's never recorded or saved. We don't sell, share, or mine your content. We collect the minimum needed to run a subscription service.
What we store on your device
- Your scripts and settings, locally at
~/Library/Application Support/Promptly/. - A randomly generated device ID, used to track your 3-day trial. No personal info is in it.
- Your Polar license key once you subscribe, so Go Live works across restarts.
What we send to servers
- Deepgram (our speech-to-text provider) receives your live microphone audio during a session. Transcripts are streamed back to drive scrolling. Audio is not retained by Promptly and, per Deepgram's streaming policy, is not used to train models.
- Our auth service (a Cloudflare Worker) receives your device ID or license key to mint a short-lived Deepgram token for each session. It does not see your script, your audio, or your transcripts.
- Polar handles checkout and subscription billing. They receive what you enter at checkout (email, payment info). We never see or store your payment details.
- PostHog (our product analytics provider) receives a small number of anonymous events — app launches, trial start, Go Live clicks, subscribe clicks, and license activations — keyed by an anonymous device ID. No script contents, no transcripts, no audio, no email address, no name.
What we do not collect
- No recordings of your voice.
- No copies of your transcripts.
- No copies of your scripts.
- No personally identifying information (name, email, IP address) tied to the anonymous analytics events above.
Cookies and the website
The website uses a PostHog cookie to count unique visits and attribute where traffic comes from (e.g., which ad or referrer). Polar may set cookies on the checkout page; their privacy policy applies there.
The website also loads the Google tag (gtag.js) to measure whether our Google ads lead to downloads. Google may set cookies for this conversion measurement; see Google's privacy policy for how they handle that data. This applies to the website only, never inside the app.
Your rights
You can delete the app and its data at any time — remove the app bundle, then delete ~/Library/Application Support/Promptly/. To cancel your subscription or request data deletion, use the customer portal at polar.sh/trypromptly/portal or email [email protected].
